Good Times at the Tucson Comic Con

Last weekend, we had an artist’s alley table at the Tucson Comic Con. Not only did we get to hang out with some really cool people (Yvonne and Rachel at stitchmeupgood.com, Ravyn at crescentcanines.com, Lisa at manaoverdose.etsy.com, Emma at em2astudios.com (Thanks Emma for the sandworm decal!) ) and Daniel and Dawna at steamcrow.com, we saw incredible cosplayers, and met some all round great people!

Mike Olivares and his crew put on a stellar Comic Con! *Insert cartoonish old lady voice here* I remember going to one of the first Tucson Comic Cons and It was 2 ballrooms at at hotel downtown. *end cartoonish old lady voice*

Since then, it has really grown up.

This was the second time I sold my wares at Tucson Comic Con, and the fifth time of attending. I must say that T-town really comes out and supports local artists. It made me happy to see so many families. It’s fun to see several generations of fandom in one place.

All in all it was a really good time! I enjoy seeing peoples’ interpretations of their favorite characters from their favorite fandoms or what have you. There is even a local company that will come to you, take photos and make an action figure of you! Clifton at iconic3d.biz.

After making new pieces to bring to the TCC my studio looks like this:

And I have 18 days to make new pieces for the Phoenix Fan Fest! There is nothing about this that I don’t love! Come check us out at booth A141!

And to conclude this post, I bring you the singing Yeti:

You will listen, ’cause if the Yeti ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.

Awesome Weekend!

Reid Park setupThe Holiday Art Fair at Reid Park was a success! We met lots of cool people and had a gas! There were tons of local artists (shout-out to Jeff Rutherford at J. Olive Design. Just beautiful glass work. You can check out his stuff here : jolivedesign.etsy.com . And Monica at Southwest Bee Supply Inc. Delicious honey!) and a lot of new faces. I even saw with my very own peepers a woman pilfering a altered matchbox I made! She slipped it right into her purse! I couldn’t believe it! It was kinda funny actually. I figured it was too much trouble to call her on it. If it had been a more expensive item I might have. I try to look at it this way: If it was cool enough to steal, then I must be doing something right!

For our next show we’ll be heading to Pasadena, California! We’re checking out the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It looks like lots of fun and we’re looking forward to meeting lots of cool people. They’ve been doing this particular show every second Sunday for 45 YEARS! And it’s ENORMOUS! You can check out the people who organize the event here: http://www.rgcshows.com . Should be awesome! We’ll be in booth 613 in the Arts and Crafts section.
