Art Boxes

Beautiful boxes to stash your bigger treasures.
I love boxes. I also love giving life to old things.

I comb the city for the best cigar boxes I can find. Then I begin a rather lengthy process of adhesive and label removal, filling, sanding, and gesso-ing the surfaces of the box; inside and out. After that, I paint the outside (and sometimes the inside) of the box.

I then curate artwork for each box. Whether its from my own (rather ridiculous) collection of rubber stamps; modified for size, or ephemera that I’ve found. I have a problem with collecting art and illustration from the turn of the last century.

I stamp or print on recycled paper. I ink everything in a way I find interesting. I then decoupage these images onto decorative papers then adhere the whole piece to the box. I do this for each face of the box.

After a curing process, I seal the box with a sealer. Then the boxes are allowed to cure.

I have a lot of fun making these.
Each one is unique. I hope you enjoy them! Want something just for you? Contact me!

One thing further: These boxes are not food safe. Please don’t use harsh cleaners on them as it may damage the finish.

What are you going to put in your box?
