I have always had a love for sterling silver. One of my earliest memories is of the sterling silver earrings and rings that my Mom would wear.
The sterling charms on these earrings are among the most detailed I’ve ever seen. You can see the scales on the dragons, the expression on the cat’s face, the bones in the bat’s wings, and the lids on the teapots actually open!
I chose beads that I thought would complement the charm it was paired with. I was feeling Halloween-y when I made the bat earrings, so I chose a blood red coral bead. The chrysocolla blue I put with the teapot reminded me of Alice’s dress in Wonderland. The firey orange Japanese porcelain beads I put with the dragons are what I imagine his scales to look like. The orange carnelian reminds me of the desert, so I added that to the scorpion earrings. The red tiger eye on the cats is especially pleasing. The green jade is the perfect shade of green for my little jumping frogs.
